Burr Baskets are a cute winter gift basket of cute cozy things for your loved ones!
It’s coming up in December – where did the year go!? – and it’s time for Burr Baskets. I know, I know, the world is a horrible consumerist place and we are all slaves to corporations. But, it’s the holiday season and a little cheer this year isn’t wasted, so why not make someone you love happy with a Burr Basket?
What is a basket of stones?
A man basket is a cute winter themed gift basket, kind of like an Easter basket or a boo basket. It’s called a man basket because, brr, it’s cold in there! To be honest, I don’t know why it’s “husband” and not “brr”, but I’m here for it. If you’re on TikTok, you’ve seen them, I’m sure. Anything and everything with a cozy winter theme! Really, anything goes, but here’s a cheap “recipe” just to make life easy:

You will need a container/basket for your rock basket. You don’t need the basket to be gigantic, just keep in mind that everything you get should be able to fit inside. Also, you don’t need to limit yourself to a basket either, you can also choose a reusable bag. There are lots of cute winter-themed baskets and bags, but if you get something neutral, the basket can last year-round.
Comfortable item
Moving on to the things in the scissor basket, I’d say the number one thing is something warm and cozy that’s functional and cute. Something that will make the recipient of your scrap basket think of you every time they use it. A quirky hoodie, a fuzzy blanket, a scarf, mittens, maybe slippers? Just make sure it’s warm and cozy.
TOUR
A cute holiday mug is perfect for gourd baskets. Heck, you can even make a mini basket where the mug is the basket! There are so many winter and Christmas themed mugs out there. Or you can go classy and get a hand-thrown ceramic mug. If your special someone isn’t a hot drink kind of person, you can get a very similar cocktail glass or even a Stanley so they stay hydrated.
beverages
Seasonal winter tea blends, hot chocolate blends, coffee or matcha are all great items to add to your scratch basket. Maybe even share with you!
Snackies/Treats
Um, winter is the time for ALL the holiday foods and treats! Peppermint Bark, Festive Oreos, Christmas Cereal, Popcorn, All Things Yummy! Just walk into the grocery store, there is usually a giant seasonal section where all the fun winter treats will be.

Winter is the time for candles and scented candles. There are a bunch of quirky seasonal candles out there, but just be careful because candles are a love it or hate it. If you’re going for a candle and want to go all out, there are a few candle companies out there that are considered delicious: Diptyque, Le Labo, PF Candle Co., Voluspa, and Mala the Brand. Scented candles are on the more expensive side, but they really set the mood.
Card
Don’t forget a handwritten note on a card, because that’s the real gift. Let your boyfriend know what you like about him, what your favorite things are to do with them, and what kind of fun things you see the two of you doing during the winter season.
Homemade treatment
Nothing beats a homemade dessert and nothing says love like spending time in the kitchen whipping up something sweet. Add some brown butter chocolate chip cookies, soft and chewy gingerbread cookies, or cinnamon sugar snickerdoodles.
How to make your basket of scissors super cute
- Get a basket (or bag) big enough so that everything fits nicely inside without too much extra space. Place the largest item at the bottom of the bin – ie. line the basket with the blanket or scarf.
- Remove any outer packaging. Take things out of the box if the box isn’t cute, remove any price tags, remove the plastic wrap if there is one. Don’t rip off any of the tags though, just in case they might want to exchange or return something.
- Organize. Larger items go in the sloping back near the bottom and smaller items go on top and forward. Try to make it so that everything in the basket is visible at first glance.
- Bonus: grab a string of battery-operated fairy lights, insert the batteries, turn them on, and arrange them around all the items to make the basket look extra magical.
- Put the card/card at the top or front so it’s the first thing they open!
