Hey there, Seafoodies!
As September rolls in and the first hints of fall start to peek through, we always start craving pure coziness! You know this time of year—when summer salads and backyard BBQs get swapped out for wholesome dishes and favorite comfort flavors.
Since it’s a little too early to get out the snow boots (thank goodness!), we wanted to come up with a dish that tasted like a little welcome to autumn on a plate. Think about pulling on your softest sweater or burrowing under warm blankets—but in food form—and you’ve got our new crab gnocchi recipe!
Now, we know what you might be thinking – “Gnocchi? Isn’t that complicated?” But trust us, this recipe is not only easier than pronouncing “gnocchi” correctly on your first try (it’s “nyoh-kee,” just in case you were wondering!), but it’s also faster than ordering takeout!
Here’s our little secret: we use canned crab meat and store-bought gnocchi. These two ingredients are the key to making this homemade meal both fast and convenient. Add in a handful of hearty kale, the seasonal flavor of sweet potatoes, some spices, a sprinkle of Parmesan cheese—and, in just 15 minutes, it will be time to set the table.
Not only is this dish delightfully delicious, but it’s also brimming with all the protein, omega-3s and vitamins that crab has to offer—keeping you fueled and feeling satisfied. Kale adds a hefty dose of vitamins A, K and C—along with powerful antioxidants. And sweet potatoes? They’re loaded with beta-carotene, fiber and manganese. We love it when ingredients are good at multitasking!
So start your season off right with an excellent culinary combination of all things autumn by perfecting this crab gnocchi. Trust us—your craving for it will only intensify as the year goes on!
Happy cooking and have a delicious fall!
- 24 ounces of frozen cauliflower gnocchi
- 4 Tablespoons olive oil
- 1 medium peeled sweet potato, diced into small cubes
- 1½ cups pre-chopped bagged kale, tightly packed
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 6 ounces canned white crab meat
- ½ teaspoon dried sage
- ¼ teaspoon kosher salt
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper
- 3 Tablespoons freshly grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
- Heat 2 Tablespoons olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. When oil is hot, add gnocchi to skillet and cook in a single layer for about 4 minutes. Gently flip with a spatula and cook for another 3 minutes, until crispy and golden brown. Transfer gnocchi to a bowl; cover to keep warm and set aside.
- Rinse the pan to remove any starch, then return to stove. Add 1 Tablespoon olive oil to skillet; then add sweet potatoes and cook over medium-high heat for 4-5 minutes, or until sweet potatoes are tender. Turn heat down to medium, add kale and garlic; cook for another 4 minutes or until kale is wilted. Add remaining 1 Tablespoon olive oil, crab meat, sage, salt and pepper; stir and cook for 2 minutes.
- Turn off heat, add gnocchi and Parmesan cheese. Toss gently to combine and top with crushed red pepper flakes, if desired.
